A collection of the people, places and things I love.
Being one himself, he understood what this opportunity might mean for a young artist. John and I are longtime friends. We share a love of detail, luxury and newness and we are never short of something to gasp over – a beautiful tweed or an amazing sofa covered in an unexpected colour, an amazing fabric or shape. As an artist, John confined himself to the private practice of his art, painting in his gorgeous studio at home and finding in it both peace and pleasure away from the hectic day job.
But, in 2016, John’s private painting pursuit became a rather more public affair with his first exhibition – a sellout, of course. Since then, his eye for colour, shape and form, expressed in his marvellous graphic works always inspires me – sometimes I just have to stare at the walls, as I am proud to say am the owner of some of John’s pieces. Good artists have the power to make you see things differently. John encourages me to look at my own work in different ways. It may be a habit fuelled by the need for constant change in his work, and the challenge of a blank canvas, but I find it both energising and inspiring
