We hold quarterly Trunk Shows in New York, where I meet our gorgeous US clients and show them the newest collection. Appointments are made, clients visit (new clients are very welcome) and we encounter marvellous women with interesting and busy lives. The Carlyle is our luxurious home for a week.
I love the elegant buzz about the Upper East Side, and the Carlyle epitomises this elegance. It's always super-busy but stimulating, in the way only New York can be. My first stop is always The Met Museum, for whatever fabulous fashion exhibition is currently on view and I always make time for a browse in the Met bookshop too, the best in New York …FD Gallery on the Upper East Side of Manhattan has become a favourite stop.
The store features furnishings, vintage handbags, first-edition books, and antique – or “estate”, jewellery is at the centre of the store, especially 20th-century pieces by Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari and Verdura among others. Bergdorf Goodman is a must-visit, I’ve loved it forever.
The home department reflects all the glamour of New York. I’m drawn to Aerin Lauder’s elegant shagreen drinks trays: I love a well-appointed drink tray - so civilised. I'm a Manolo Blahnik devotee and I absolutely love his store on West 54th where shoes are displayed as beautifully as sculptures in a museum.
